Since I have been living in Japan, I rarely have the opportunity to eat a good steak because of the expense. That is until I came across Ikinari Steak in Sannomiya. This restaurant opened in Tokyo in 2013 and quickly expanded to well over 300 locations throughout Japan, including 9 locations in the USA. Ikinari also has a website in English and in Japanese. Customers can ask the staff for a Niku-Mileage Card which comes with a lot of benefits. Among Ikinari Steak`s policy is hospitality: Japanese hospitality. This means combining excellent food with excellent service at a very reasonable price.
The first time I went to Ikinari was for dinner. I waited in line outside the restaurant for more than 45 minutes until I was seated. But the wait was worth it. The restaurant in Sannomiya is small and crowded. At the table, patrons will notice a bib. The bib is there for you to wear because the steaks are served on a hot sizzling iron plate and your clothes may get some splatter. The steak I ordered was absolutely wonderful. My order came with salad and a big plate of rice. During dinner time, patrons will be asked to go to the back of the restaurant with their table number slip. The chef will cook your steak the way you like it; and brought to you by the servers. During the lunch hour, this changes. You tell the server how you want the steak, and it will be brought to you. To my great surprise, my steak was brought to me in less than five minutes! And yes, it was cooked just the way I like it!
