551 Horai got started in 1945 in Osaka. 551 Horai can be found just about anywhere in the Kansai area: Train stations, malls, and shopping areas. Their trademark product is none other than their Butaman (Pork Buns) which are handmade in their individual shops. Karashi or Japanese mustard comes with Butaman automatically. However, be forewarned that the karashi is very hot and will leave you with watery eyes and a very interesting feeling in your nose as well! However, I personally love the sensation! The Butaman makes for a great souvenir, and can be easily kept in the refrigerator and heated up in the microwave the next day for about 1 minute. Besides Butaman, 551 Horai also makes Shrimp Shumai, Gyoza, and Chimaki. And do not forget the beer!
