A long time ago one of my students told me about a place in Kyoto where people can eat above a river. Well, I finally realized my dream to visit this wonderful place in Kyoto called Kibune. Kibune is a beautiful village located in the mountains.

Kibune means, "precious boat." I went to Kibune during the hot summer month of August 2017. I chose Nakayoshi Restaurant because the restaurant offered the most reasonable price for lunch.

I sat on a tatami mat above the river, and enjoyed the serenity of the forest and the sound of the river flowing beneath me.

The lunch set included a seven course meal which was excellent.

I also took the opportunity to soak my feet in the cold river water.
